Elvis Franklin Dollar

Elvis Franklin Dollar, age 85, passed away on Wednesday, December 22, 2021, surrounded by loved ones.

He was born January 17, 1936, in Hazen, Arkansas to Sidney and Ola Mae (Hall) Dollar.

He is survived by his childhood sweetheart and wife of 67 years, Helen (nee Stracener); two children, Penny Dollar Graham and Paul Kevin (Dreama) Dollar; five grandchildren, Jamin (Meghan) Graham, Jerah (Brandon) Divine, Hannah (Jeff) Vale, Bethany (Jerrod) Piker, and Chloe (Isaiah) Boyer; 16 great grandchildren (Emma, Addy, Everleigh, and Aria Graham; Jeron, Breydon, Javen, and Blakelyn Divine; Joah, Jana, and SuzyJae Vale; Hunter and Zandra Parris; and Rylan, Henley, and Hudson Boyer), 7 siblings (Dorothy Drew, Dolores Smith, Shirley Overturf, Dawanna Keys, Patsy Singley, Ronnie Dollar, and Joyce Blake).

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Lavoyd Dollar, and sister, Mary Sid Nail.

Elvis received his bachelor’s degree from Arkansas State Teachers College and his masters degree from Bowling Green State University. He taught math at Clearview High School (1960-1968) and Admiral King High School (19681988). After retiring, he taught at LCCC. He is an Army veteran, having served in Army Paratroopers (1952-1956) and Ohio National Guard (1956-1985), retiring as a Captain.

Elvis was a former member of Broadway Assembly church and an active member of Christian Heritage Assembly of God church in Avon where he served in many ministries in both churches for 61 years. Elvis was very passionate about God’s word and was a member of Gideons International.

Elvis loved God, people, and spending time with his family. He was loved and will be missed by his family, including his many nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.

Friends may call Monday, December 27, 2021, from 6-8 p.m. at Broadway Assembly Church, 5495 Broadway Avenue, Lorain, OH. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, at 11:00 a.m. at Broadway Assembly Church. The Rev. Jeffrey Phail, pastor of Christian Heritage Assembly of God, will officiate.
