Free walking sites line up this winter for locals

Fitness options help increase strength, health

Don’t hibernate this winter because there are free walking locations and exercise classes across Lorain County.

Lorain County Public Health continues its tradition of providing a list of free fitness options in Lorain County, according to a news release.

These free fitness opportunit­ies make it easier to move more, feel better, maintain a healthy weight and connect socially, the release said.

No membership or commitment required.

Locations

• Keystone Elementary School, 531 Opportunit­y Way in LaGrange, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays, Nov. 30 through April 28, when school is open.

• Lorain County Community College University Partnershi­p Ridge Campus, 32121 Lorain Road in North Ridgeville, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Thursdays, Oct. 28 through March 31.

• Liberty School, 5700 Jaycox Road in North Ridgeville, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays, Jan. 4 through March 24, when school is open.

• Lorain County Metro Parks Splash Zone, 95 W. Hamilton St. in Oberlin, at 5:30 p.m., Mondays, yearround.

• Mercy Health Amherst HealthPlex, 47160 Hollstein Drive in Amherst, at 5:30 p.m., Thursdays, yearround.

• Midview Middle School, 12865 Grafton Road in Grafton, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., school days, now through spring when school is open.

If you prefer to walk outdoors, locations at parks are available.

Each park committed to clearing walking paths during snowy weather, according to the release.

• Penfield Recreation­al Park, 40756 State Route 18 in Wellington

• Shady Drive Complex, 37077 Shady Drive in North Ridgeville

• South Central Park, 7565 Avon Belden Road in North Ridgeville

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention still recommends wearing a mask in an indoor public place, according to the release.
