Library announces temporary change in operating hours

Coronaviru­s impacts staffing levels

Due to the impact of the novel coronaviru­s on staffing levels, Lorain Public Library System branches are temporaril­y reducing operating hours to 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday beginning Jan. 5, according to a news release.

Friday and Saturday hours will remain 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and the North Ridgeville and South Lorain branches will continue to be open from 1 to 5 p.m., Sundays, the release said.

All Lorain Public Library System programs between Jan. 4 and Jan. 30 have been canceled, according to the release.

“We will tentativel­y resume regularly scheduled programmin­g on Monday, Jan. 31,” according to the release. “Outside groups that have reserved meeting rooms are not included in this cancelatio­n; their programs will still take place.”

Individual questions regarding specific programs can be directed to your local branch.

At 6 p.m., Jan. 11, the Friends of the Lorain Public Library System Domonkas Branch, 4125 E. Lake Road in Sheffield Lake, will have a general membership meeting, according to the release.

This meeting will include the annual White Elephant Sale, the release said.

Also, the Domonkas Branch is hosting a “Month of Service: Honoring Martin Luther King Jr.” which started at Jan. 3 and will continue to Jan. 31, according to the release.

All month long, the Library will honor King’s legacy through community service, the release said.

The Library is collecting items such as blankets, hats and scarves and they will be donated to a local charity.

These can be handmade, new or gently used, the release said.
