Center offers summer camp exploration, variety
The Oberlin Heritage Center is offering a variety of summer camps this year.
The camps are: Ancient Cultures Camp, which takes place from July 18-22; Architecture Camp, from Aug. 1-5; and Kids Through the Decades, which goes from Aug. 8-12, according to the Oberlin Heritage Center newsletter.
Ancient Cultures Camp
Take a trip through time while learning about ancient cultures from around the world where campers will discover people and places whose civilizations built the foundations for many societies around today, according to the Oberlin Heritage Center.
This camp will explore ancient peoples of the Roman Empire, Greece, India, the Americas, Africa and Pacific Islanders through music, art, crafts and games.
Registration deadline for this camp is July 9.
Architecture Camp hands-on, tour
Children will love learning the basics of architecture in this hands-on camp.
They will tour Oberlin architecture inside and out, explore building materials, try construction challenges, sketch designs, create mini structures and envision buildings of the future.
Scouts attending this camp also will complete some requirements for architecture badges.
Registration deadline for this camp is July 23.
Kids through the Decades Camp
What did children wear in the 1910s? What kinds of toys were around in the 1950s? How did my parents listen to music when they were my age?
Children will get to learn about what life was like for American kids throughout the decades of the 20th century, exploring topics such as school life, pop culture, chores and recreation through activities, games
and objects in the Oberlin Heritage Center collection.
Registration deadline for this camp is July 30.
Children must bring a bag lunch, a water bottle, a mask (if required), and appropriate outdoor wear
each day.
The Heritage Center will provide an afternoon snack.
Cost
Camps cost $125 per reg- istrant, with discounts for members of Oberlin Heritage
Center members.
