United Way starts fundraising campaign ‘Together on $10’
From now until July 29, United Way of Greater Lorain County is hosting an online fundraising campaign called Together on $10.
The campaign will entail engaging social media posts on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn to highlight local statistics, resident stories and acts of collaboration leading to positive change in Greater Lorain County alongside a $10 donation ask, according to a news release from United Way.
Funds raised from the campaign, which started July 11, will be used over five impact initiatives to help local individuals and families, the release said.
The five impact initiatives are 2-1-1 First Call for Help, Free Tax Preparation, Toddlers & Tweens, Total Health and Lorain County Mobility Management.
“This unique fundraiser maximizes our impact when we give $10 and then ask 10 friends to also give $10,” said Colleen Walts, marketing and engagement director at United Way of Greater Lorain County in the release. “Gifts then compound to make an even bigger difference to residents in need.
“I’m happy to give up my specialty coffee drink for a day when I know my donation gives local children access to books or helps someone in crisis avoid eviction.”
The goal of Together on $10 is to ask 1,000 people for a $10 donation ultimately raising $10,000 total or collecting $2,000 in each impact initiative, according to the release.
