Police seize large amount of fentanyl
The team seized 81 grams of suspected fentanyl, 20 grams of suspected cocaine, 40 grams of marijuana, a nine-millimeter semi-automatic handgun, ammunition, an undisclosed amount of cash and drug paraphernalia items consistent with drug trafficking, the release stated.
A 36-year-old Lorain man was arrested after a search warrant turned up a substantial amount of narcotics.
On July 22, the Lorain Police Department followed up on a six-month investigation into alleged drug-trafficking activities of Michael Spencer, according to a news release from Capt. Roger Watkins.
The Lorain Police Narcotics Unit was assisted by the Lorain Police SWAT team, K9 Unit, support services and road patrol as they conducted the search warrant at 3519 Edgewood Drive, the release stated.
The team seized 81 grams of suspected fentanyl, 20 grams of suspected cocaine, 40 grams of marijuana, a nine-millimeter semi-automatic handgun, ammunition, an undisclosed amount of cash and drug paraphernalia items consistent with drug trafficking, the release stated.
Lorain police Detective Craig Payne led the investigation.
When the search warrant was being conducted, Spencer was located inside the residence along with an adult female and seven juveniles ranging in age from 4 to 15, said the release.
Spencer was placed under arrest without incident on an outstanding warrant stemming from this investigation on trafficking in fentanyl, a first-degree felony, police said.
Spencer has prior convictions through Common Pleas Courts in Cuyahoga and Lorain counties on multiple charges of trafficking in drugs and possession of drugs, Lorain police stated.
The narcotic’s investigation is ongoing and Spencer could face additional charges at a later date.
