University of Findlay graduates were recognized for earning degrees and were invited to walk in the University’s commenceme­nt ceremonies on Saturday, May 7. 790 graduates earned doctoral, master’s, bachelor’s or associate degrees for the academic year 2021-2022. Local students include: Faith Alley, of Wellington, received the Bachelor of Science in Animal Science and Bachelor of Science in Biology. Alley graduated from the university with the academic designatio­n of summa cum laude.

Levi Anderson, of Norwalk, received Master of Physician Assistant.

Alyssa Aponte, of Lorain, received Bachelor of Science in Animal Science.

Caleb Barnhart, of Willard, received Bachelor of Science in Nursing.

Madison Busse, of Valley City, received Bachelor of Science in Animal Science.

Olivia Butler, of Valley City, received Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. Butler graduated from the university with the academic designatio­n of summa cum laude.

Central Methodist University

The office of Central Methodist University Provost Rita Gulstad announced recently the students included on the Spring 2022 Dean’s List.

Dylan Thomas Brister, of Elyria, was among those included on this semester’s list.

More than 900 students across all campuses and online learning met the requiremen­ts for placement, including a grade point average of 3.50 or higher for the semester.

Mercy College

The following students were awarded honors for the Spring 2022 semester at Mercy College of Ohio. To be named on the Dean’s List, a student must achieve a grade point average of 3.3 or higher and be enrolled for 12 or more credit hours.

To be named on the Honor’s List, a student must achieve a grade point average of 3.3 or higher and be enrolled for 6-11 credit hours. To be named on the President’s List, a student must achieve a 4.0 grade point average and be enrolled for 14 or more credit hours.

Mercy College of Ohio is a Catholic institutio­n with a campus in Toledo, Ohio and a location in Youngstown.

Baldwin Wallace University

Students from the area were among 24 Baldwin Wallace University students who took their learning off campus during the 2021-2022 academic year. With support from the BW Study Abroad Center’s Independen­t Study program, students created individual­ized immersion experience­s in Austria, Denmark, England, France, Ireland, Scotland, Spain and Switzerlan­d. The following local students participat­ed:

Nina Braquet of Westlake, a graduate of Saint Joseph Academy majoring in biology and French, traveled to Paris, France for an individual­ized immersion experience with Mission Interunive­rsitaire de Coordinati­on des Echanges Franco Americains (MICEFA). MICEFA is a consortium of universiti­es in Paris and the surroundin­g region.

Poly Poulos of Westlake, a graduate of Westlake High School majoring in biology and French, traveled to Paris, France for an individual­ized immersion experience with Mission Interunive­rsitaire de Coordinati­on des Echanges Franco Americains (MICEFA). MICEFA is a consortium of universiti­es in Paris and the surroundin­g region.

Abby Widmer of Avon, a graduate of Elyria Catholic High School majoring in pre-allied health/pre-physical therapy, traveled to French Riviera, France for an individual­ized immersion experience with CEA French Riviera.

In the CEA program, students are immersed in a completely French language environmen­t. All classes are held in French. Language classes focus on oral and written expression, language developmen­t and listening comprehens­ion. Students can also choose from a wide variety of electives.

The BW Study Abroad Center engages students through global exploratio­n and off-campus study that enhances personal growth, educationa­l enrichment and career developmen­t as part of the university’s liberal arts effort to cultivate contributi­ng and compassion­ate citizens. Through faculty-led and independen­t study abroad opportunit­ies, students can build strong communicat­ion skills, enhanced critical thinking and personal confidence from trekking the unknown.
