Area nonprofit organizations are invited to register for next month’s EmbraceCLE Community Challenge, a fundraising contest offered for the third year.

The challenge is hosted by Embrace Pet Insurance Company, a Clevelandbased pet health insurance provider for dogs and cats which offers its services throughout the country, according to a news release.

The challenge is open to all 501(c)3 organizations located in Lorain, Cuyahoga, Medina, Summit, Geauga, Lake and Portage counties, regardless of the organization’s mission, the release stated.

“This year’s wholesome community challenge will have a select group of local charities compete against one another to raise the most money for their nonprofit,” the release stated.

The charity that raises the most money will be declared the winner.

“Going into the third year of the challenge, we have never been more proud and excited for the opportunity to support Cleveland-based nonprofits,” said Brian Macias, president of Embrace Pet Insurance, who spearheaded the contest in 2020. “Over the years, we’ve seen just how hard these charities work year ‘round and they step it up when it comes to this challenge.”

“Brian Macias, President of Embrace Pet Insurance, first identified the need for a large-scale fundraising opportunity in August 2020,” said Tara Byrne, a spokeswoman for the group in the release. “By September 2020, the Challenge had hit the ground running, raising thousands of dollars for homegrown missions.”

“From all of us at Embrace, thank you for what you have done and what you continue to do to make an impact on our community,” Macias said.

Applications are being accepted for this year’s participants through mid-August, stated the news release.

The program will begin at noon, Sept. 1, and runs through 11:59 p.m., Sept. 30, the release stated.

“In its inaugural year, 2020, over $200,000 was raised by 12 local charities participating in the EmbraceCLE community challenge,” Byrne said. “In 2021, 19 nonprofits participated, raising nearly $130,000.

“As of today, 20 organizations are registered to participate in this year’s challenge.”

To nominate a nonprofit organization, interested parties should contact Stephanie Kesselem at Embrace Pet Insurance at embracecle@embracepetinsurance.com.

Embrace was founded in 2003 and opened its doors for business in September of 2006, Byrne said.
