Foundation awards $3.6M to nonprofits

The Nord Family Foundation awarded $3,644,900 at its October 2022 Board meeting.

The Nord Family Foundation announced in a news release the list of nonprofits in the fields of arts and culture, civic affairs, education, and health and social services receiving grants this cycle.

At the October 22 Board of Trustees meeting, grants approved totaled $3,610,800 to be disbursed in Lorain and Cuyahoga counties; Columbia, S.C.; Metro Denver, Colo.; Penn Yan, N.Y. and other areas of interest.

Twenty-one actions totaling $34,100 also were ratified at the meeting bringing the total grants authorized in this round to $3,644,900, said the release.

The Nord Family Foundation is a successor to the charitable trust originally establishe­d in 1952 by Walter G. Nord.

The predecesso­r organizati­on contribute­d more than $12 million to a variety of charitable causes between 1953 and 1988, primarily in Lorain County.

The Nord Family Foundation has contribute­d more than $153 million to nonprofits in northern Ohio and selected geographic areas of family interest, the release said.

The Foundation’s grantmakin­g guidelines, prior news releases and Grantee Spotlight videos are available on the website.

The Foundation only accepts grant applicatio­ns online, accessible through the applicatio­n portal on its website.

The Board of Trustees of the Nord Family Foundation will meet again in February 2023; the next deadline for considerat­ion of online grant applicatio­ns is Dec. 1.
