Support LCCC levy

- John Schaeffer MD Amherst

I’m writing this letter to strongly support the renewal tax levy request of the Lorain County Community College in November

My family have been members of this community since the 1870s.

I started my cardiology practice in 1976 and have had many experiences working with LCCC and do currently sit on the foundation trustee board which has given me lots of experience to know, appreciate and understand their incredible benefit and contribution that they give and bring to our community

We are blessed to have one of the best community colleges in the United States and they have always been recognized for this distinction.

They have very good working relationships with a number of very good colleges and universities within the state of Ohio that allow students to get additional credit hours beyond the LCCC courses through the shared partnership program. They can ultimately end up with a bachelor’s degree at an average cost of around $15,000 through these other of educational relationship programs which is far less expensive than most other college tuitions in our country, so that cost is not the problem.

On the other side of the equation is the academic benefit and opportunity that LCCC provides and this is clearly documented without question by the recognition as being the Best Community College in the United States for future student success.

Please, please, please support the LCCC renewal tax request that has no increase in the tax rate but an incredible educational benefit to our students so that we can continue to support one of the best colleges in the country in our backyard
