Connecting for Kids plans programs, groups

Connecting for Kids is offering programs for families in March virtual and in person at the Lorain Public Library System North Ridgeville Branch, according to a news release.
Registration is required for these programs, the release said.

Behavior chat
Do you want strategies to motivate your child toward positive behavior?
Join Ochanya McRoberts-Wells, MEd, who will lead a discussion guided by your questions on a variety of behavior topics at 6:30 p.m., March 28, at North Ridgeville Branch, 35700 Bainbridge Road.
Submit your questions before or during the session and learn how to use the tools in the Behavior Toolkit to help your child.
Each session will focus on a new behavior tool, but questions on any behavior concern are welcome.
The content in this program is geared toward caregivers of children ages 18 months to 6 years (with or without developmental concerns).
Each attendee will receive a free Behavior Toolkit. connectingforkids.org/ behavior-chat Tools for Taming Big Emotions, the release said.
Music Therapy and More
This program is designed for families and their children, ages 0 to 6 years, who are struggling in an area of development.
The hands-on program, which starts at 6:30 p.m., March 23, at the North Ridgeville Branch, will teach families how to use music to improve their child’s academic, motor, communication and social skills as well as behavior, the release said.
This program is led by a Board-Certified Music Therapist. connectingforkids.org/music, the release said.
Virtual share and support groups
Join the interactive support groups and meet other families facing similar struggles.
For all in-person programs, free, supervised children’s activities are available, but adults and children must register separately at connectingforkids.org/support, the release said.
• Parenting is Lonely for Families of Children with Complex Needs. Do you want to meet other families of children with complex needs? Is caring for your child taking a toll on your own mental health?
The isolation of raising a child with disabilities or complex medical needs is real, according to the release.
This program welcomes all caregivers, including single parents and kindred caregivers, to receive encouragement as guests will discuss the article, “Why Parenting Can Be Lonely, Even When You’re Rarely Alone.”
Amy Dillon Cody, of Amy Dillon Cody LLC, will talk about self-care and ways to find support and community for the journey at 8:30 p.m., March 7.
• LGBTQ+ Caregiver Connect. Are you the caregiver of a child who is gender questioning, expansive or LGBTQ+? Then join the interactive caregiver support group to meet and connect with other families.
Kristen Pepera and Lisa Pepera of Colors+ will lead a discussion where families can learn, connect and find resources to better support and affirm their child at 7 p.m., March 30.
