2 Lorain County students inducted into National Honor Society
Elaijah White, a sophomore from Elyria, and Ghost Fye, a senior from Lorain, were among the 11 Great River Connections Academy students recently inducted into the National Honor Society in recognition of their outstanding academic achievement and service to the community, according to a news release.
To qualify for National Honor Society, students in grades 10 -12 must have been enrolled with Great River Connections Academy for at least one semester and have a cumulative grade point average of 3.4 or better, the release stated.
Students also must demonstrate a history of leadership experience, participate in school or community service activities and submit letters of recommendation from current and former teachers as well as from other adults, according to the release.
“At Great River Connections Academy, we have the opportunity to work with students and families from many different backgrounds who come to us seeking an academic setting where they can thrive,” said Jason Swinehart, Great River Connections Academy school leader.
“I congratulate these students for maintaining such a strong commitment to succeeding in the classroom and making a difference in their community.”
Virtual school is a great fit for a variety of students and each student is unique, according to the release.
Those who attend Great River Connections Academy come from different backgrounds and choose full-time online school for various reasons.
Some students prefer to take ownership of their education and benefit from the flexibility that virtual school offers, while others are looking for a safe learning environment, according to the release.
Great River Connections Academy is hosting online information sessions for families interested in learning more about virtual education, the release said.
