Rotary Sip and Support winetasting fundraising event tips glasses April 29

The North Coast Rotary Club and Foundation will host a Sip and Support winetasting fundraiser from 4-7 p.m., April 29, at the Spitzer Conference Center of Lorain County Community College, 1005 N. Abbe Road in Elyria.

The Sip and Support will feature three hours of unlimited samplings of more than 35 wines, according to a news release.

“This is a great opportunity for you and your friends to experience new wines and develop or expand your wine palate,” the release said. “Each wine will include flavor notes and if you like what you sample, there will be an opportunity to purchase full bottles.”

There also will be “bonus pours” of select special wines to offer you the pleasure of sampling wines you wouldn’t otherwise be able to, according to the release.

Wine selections

The wines will be expertly selected and provided by Pete Sandrev, coowner of The Wine Room in Avon, the release said.

Pair the wines with gourmet appetizers provided by LCCC’s award winning chefs and catering team and delectable desserts as well, the release said.

Doug McCutcheon, the original keyboard player with The Baskerville Hounds, an American garage rock band from West Park, will perform.

The band was popular in the 1960s and 70s and they opened for many top acts including The Rolling Stones, Sonny and Cher, Beach Boys and Dave Clark 5, according to the release.

There will be many opportunities to support the North Coast Rotary Foundation, such as auction baskets and raffles, the release said.

While sipping, take part in a fine art sale featuring 15 original works of art by documented artists.

A portion of the proceeds from the sale of any pieces of art will benefit North Coast Rotary Foundation with the rest going to benefit the people of Ukraine, according to the release.

And, 100% of all other proceeds from the Sip and Support will benefit youth and community initiatives of the North Coast Rotary Foundation, the release said.

Tickets are available online

Tickets for Sip and Support are $80 each or $75 each when two or more tickets are purchased.

Tickets can be purchased at northcoastrotary.org and 50% of the ticket price is tax-deductible.

A complimentary keepsake wine glass is included with each ticket, the release said.
