Morning Journal gymnastics all-stars

GYMNAST OF THE YEAR

Piling up the accolades this season, Emma Nolan is the Morning Journal Gymnast of the Year. Nolan qualified for the state meet after winning the vault at the district meet and finishing sixth all-around. The junior showed out at the state meet, finishing tied for second on vault, tied for seventh on floor and tied for 11th on bars for an all-around 10th-place score of 37.225.

COACH OF THE YEAR

Chelsea Cahill, Avon and Westlake

The SWC Coach of the Year is also The Morning Journal’s Coach of the Year. Cahill coached SWC MVP Maddie Geiger of Avon, and the Eagles had depth behind her. With Westlake, Cahill also had a strong senior class that excelled this season.

FIRST TEAM (in alphabetical order) Carley Abbott, Sr., Olmsted Falls

State qualifier in floor, finished tied for 23rd. SWC Honorable Mention, ninth place in floor at district.

Caley Bomback, Jr., Firelands

State qualifier in floor, finished 27th. Tied for 15th in floor at district, third place at sectional with a best score of 9.35.

Lydia Bubar, Jr., North Ridgeville

State qualifier in floor, finished 22nd. Second-team allSWC in all-around and beam, placed top 12 in each event at sectionals.

Maddie Geiger, Sr., Avon

State qualifier on vault, finished tied for 19th. SWC MVP, first-team All-SWC all-around and beam, Second-team all-SWC on vault and bars. Finished in 16th place on vault in district.

Tessa Kelly, Sr., Fairview

State qualifier on vault and floor, finished in fifth place on vault and tied for seventh on floor. Placed tied for third and sold third in both events respectively at district.

Emma Maher, Sr., Rocky River

All-around state qualifier, placed tied for 18th with total score of 36.250. Placing sixth on beam, and tied for 12th on floor. Finished 12th in all-around at district, including second place on beam.
