GoFundMe account has been organized for two victims who were injured during a shooting at the Havana Tavern.

A GoFundMe fundraising account has been organized for the two victims who were injured during a shooting at the Havana Tavern, in Norwich Township in January.

Krista Schafer is organizing this fundraiser under the name of “Havana Tavern Friends” and has set a goal of $5,000 to help offset costs as the men recover from their injuries, according to the GoFundMe account. As of Feb. 15, the fundraising efforts collected $425 in donations.

“Havana Tavern has set up this Go Fund Me to offer support for the victims of the tragic violence that occurred to some of our loyal friends. Both victims are on the road to recovery, but are expected to be off work for an extended period of time as they continue to heal,” Schafer wrote. “All money donated will be split evenly between the victims to help ease their financial strain.”

The shooting occurred on Jan. 16 just before 9 p.m. at the bar, located at 176 Gregory Road, near Willard, the Huron County Sheriff’s Office stated at the time.

Kyle Vanderpool, 24, of the 3200 block of Baseline Road, Plymouth, was taken into custody, medically treated and transported to the Huron County Jail following the incident, the sheriff’s office has said.

Vanderpool was indicted late last month on six counts attempt to commit an offense, felonies of the first and second degree; two counts of felonious assault, felonies of the second degree and one count of illegal possession of a firearm in a liquor permit premises, a felony of the third degree, according to Huron County Common Pleas Court records.

Vanderpool remains in the Huron County Jail on a $200,000 bond and is scheduled for a pretrial hearing March 11, records also show.
