Columbia’s Borling tops LC8 honors

- By Travis Nelson tnelson@morningjournal.com PLAYER OF THE YEAR

Columbia’s Nathan Borling has put quite a career together, and more accolades are coming his way.

After already receiving Lorain County Division IV Co-Player of the Year and OHSBCA Division IV District 3 Player of the Year honors, the senior guard can add LC8 Player of the Year to the list.

After his school-record 47 points in the opening-round win over Lordstown, Borling is up to 24.3 points per game in the midst of his stellar final season. He’s also averaging eight rebounds and 3.2 assists per game.

Borling also played a big part in helping his younger teammates along and leading the Raiders to a 16-7 record through the first 23 games. They’ve won 12 of their last 14 and finished 10-4 for a third-place finish in conference play.

The LC8 Coach of the Year resides in Sheffield Village once again, as Brookside coach Larry Babics earned the accolade after winning back-to-back conference titles with the Cardinals. They finished the regular season 16-6 overall and 12-2 in the conference.

Here is the full list of honorees:
