A GoFundMe Account has been established to assist an Elyria family with rebuilding their home after it was damaged when a teen allegedly drove a stolen car into it.

The account named “Help Ken’s Family Rebuild Their Porch” was organized by Denise Taylor, a cousin of the family.

“Imagine you’re having a normal evening making dinner with the family when a car crashes into your home, destroying your front porch and then landing in the side of the neighboring house,” Taylor wrote. “This shocking incident is the what occurred to my cousins family, the aftermath of a high-speed police chase involving a stolen vehicle.”

Due to the incident, the two houses in need of repair are located in the 300 block of West River Road.

The account is asking for $4,000.

As of April 17, it had raised $180.

“We are asking for your generosity and support to help them rebuild and create a safe space for their loved ones,” Taylor wrote. “Every donation, no matter how small, can make a huge difference in their lives.

“Let’s come together and show them that they are not alone in this journey toward rebuilding their home and their lives.”

Elyria police arrested a 16-year-old boy April 13 following the crash which occurred at 7 p.m., according to an Elyria Police Department report.

The teen possessed a loaded handgun, the report said.

The teenager was driving a stolen Chevrolet Impala at the time of the crash, according to the report.

The boy was treated and released from a medical center.

He was charged with several felony charges including auto theft, vandalism and multiple weapons offenses.
