Upton is batting .256 with 16 home runs, 45 RBI and 20 stolen bases. The 12-year veteran has also played for Tampa Bay and Atlanta.

Upton is in the fourth year of a five-year, $75.25 million contract he signed with the Braves before the 2013 season. He’s owed $16.45 million next season.

DEKEYSER SIGNS WITH DETROIT » The Detroit Red Wings have avoided arbitratio­n and signed defenseman Danny DeKeyser to a $30 million, six-year contract.

DeKeyser will count $5 million against the salary cap throughout the length of the deal. Agent Don Meehan confirmed the terms of the contract Tuesday, including modified no-trade protection beginning in the 2017-18 season.

The restricted free agent and the club were scheduled to have their arbitratio­n hearing on Thursday in Toronto.

PREDATORS SIGN GRANBERG » The Nashville Predators have signed restricted free-agent defenseman Petter Granberg to a two-year contract. Granberg’s deal will be worth $575,000 at the NHL level and $175,000 at the American Hockey League level in 2016-17.
