Outlook: defense

Similar to the offense, there are a lot of returning starters — nine to be exact. But the defense gave up five or more touchdowns in eight of the 10 games the Skippers played last year. A year of experience, as well as an offense that stays on the field longer, should help the defense. Senior Terrell Becks (5-7, 365) can be a tough run-stopper in the middle of the defense. All three linebackers — Toreki, Thomas and Bagin — are back starting this year. Junior Mitchell Yommer had four interceptions last year and is a talented safety. The big key is stopping the run in the run-oriented CVC Valley. Ends Tobin Shafer and Caleb Hites can get upfield and after the QB.
