Outlook: defense

The front seven on this defense will be as good as anyone’s in the area. The strength of the offense is running the ball, while the strength of the defense will likely be stopping the run. Again, Amata is the only returner on the front line. But the linebackers — Brian Robinson, D.J. Griffs, Ryan Borkey and Williams are quick, physical and aggressive. Shutting off the opposition’s running game and forcing third-and-long situations will be what this team thrives upon. In the defensive backfield, Alston returns at corner and Corbin is back at safety. Overall, there are some experience questions across the board, and there are some key two-way starters who can’t afford to get injured. But the goal is to be better than .500 and get to the playoffs.
