Chardon stomps Madison

The Chardon defense exerted its authority rest of the way. The Hilltopper­s allowed another touchdown pass to Gibson, but carried a 49-14 lead into halftime.

Top players

Chardon had three offensive players with big nights running the ball. Joe Cyvas carried six times for 60 yards and scored on runs of 29, seven and five yards.

Joe Dinko carried 10 times for 135 yards and scored on runs of 35, 18 and 21 yards. He also returned a kick 51 yards to set up one of his scoring runs.

Quarterbac­k Tommy Benenati had a big night as well, rushing 16 times for 199 yards and scoring of runs of five and 43 yards.

“That’s all the O-line,” Benenati said. “I thought they were really dominating tonight, especially when you hang 63 on Madison.”

Chardon dominated the ground game, gaining 404 yards on the ground compared to 128 total yards for the Blue Streaks.
