• Mark Farrell Jr. returned an interception 62 yards for a touchdown with a minute to play, clinching Beachwood’s 35-27 win over Geneva in CVC Chagrin action. Farrell’s 44-yard touchdown pass from Ben Conner in the third quarter gave the Bison a 28-27 lead to help offset a fourth touchdown run by Geneva’s Juan Rodriguez. Beachwood (2-3, 1-1) outgained Geneva, 310-288. All of the Eagles’ yardage came on the ground. Geneva (1-4, 0-2) has lost four straight since a season-opening win over Madison. • Pierce Fricke’s 70-yard interception return in the third quarter helped solidify Chagrin Falls’ 19-7 win over Orange, giving the Tigers their first win of the season. Chagrin Falls (1-4, 1-1 CVC Chagrin) got a 175-yard rushing performance from junior Patrick Holland. • NDCL won its fourth game in a row, topping Canton Central Catholic, 24-23, in nonconference play. Quarterback Charles Forbes ran for 124 yards and a touchdown. He also threw a touchdown pass. The Lions (4-1) open NCL play next week at Benedictine. • Columbus Watterson scored 10 points in the fourth quarter, including a game-winning touchdown with 29 seconds left, for a 10-7 win over Benedictine. The Bengals (1-4) were without DeCavilon Reese (injured) for a second straight game. Levi Pokersnik threw for 101 yards and ran for 48 yards for the Bengals. • Evan Faxon ran for 50 yards and three touchdowns, and also passed for 132 yards and two scores, as Hawken blanked Richmond Heights, 34-0. It was the first win of the season for the Hawks (1-4, 1-1 CVC Valley). • Johnny Chambers ran for 232 yards and three touchdowns, but Newbury lost to Jackson-Milton, 29-26. The Black Knights (3-2) ran for 424 yards. Tom McKale ran for 129 yards for Newbury and Kade Marker ran for 63. • Joe Daddario scored touchdowns on four of the nine carries he had against Harvey in West Geauga’s 42-0 win over the Red Raiders. Daddario finished with nine carries for 102 yards for the Wolverines is now 3-2 overall and 2-0 in the CVC Chagrin.
