(2) BRUSH VS. (3) EUCLID

What: Division I district semifinal

Where: Perry, 1 Success Blvd., Perry When: 6 p.m., Feb. 27

Records: Euclid 15-8, Brush 20-3

On deck: The winner advances to a district final on March 2 against the winner of top-seeded Mentor and fourth-seeded North.

For the record: The Panthers were district champions last year with a young team, and it’s been a while since the Arcs were in this position . ... Brush pulled out a 50-44 win over Chardon for a sectional title. Danajah Sanders, a tremendous outside shooter, had 17 points. Team catalyst Arielle DeBase had 11. If those two remain hot and players such as Jenna Perry (60-plus 3-pointers this year) catches fire, Brush is tough to beat . ... Euclid dominated South, 69-31, in its sectional final. There’s a lot of firepower here, too, including Constance Chaplin, Calasia Cunigham and Rayjon Harris, all who had more than 11 points in the win over South . ... Two things to keep an eye on are Euclid’s experience in the district tournament and the play in the paint. Both have good guards. Who will control the middle? That’s likely the team that will win.

Kampf’s pick: Euclid (1) Mentor vs. (4) North

What: Division I district semifinal

Where: Perry, 1 Success Blvd., Perry When: 7:30 p.m., Feb. 27

Records: Mentor 17-7, North 19-4

On deck: The winner advances to a district final on March 2 against the winner of second-seeded Brush and third-seeded Euclid

For the record: These are somewhat similar teams. Both like up-tempo play and can light it up from 3-point land . ... North doubled up Kenston, 4422, to win a sectional title. Samantha Pirosko was unstoppable in the paint, racking up 22 points and 16 rebounds. She was the only one in double figures, but Val Arnold, Destiny Leo and Ally Lako all average double digits . ... Mentor is led by its two 1,000-point career scorers, Maddy Moyer and Nicole Heffington. But teams can’t sleep on Gianna Pegoraro and Brittany Fillar, both of whom can hurt the opposition . ... North has advantages in the paint with Pirosko, and Leo plays anything like the freshman that she is. But can anyone stop or slow down do-it-all Heffington? Kampf’s pick: Mentor

(9) WEST GEAUGA VS. (1) PERRY

What: Division II district semifinal

Where: Lakeside, 6600 Sanborn Road, Ashtabula When: 6 p.m., Feb. 27

Records: Perry 21-2, West Geauga 8-15

On deck: The winner advances to a district final on March 2 against the winner of third-seeded Harvey and fifth-seeded NDCL

For the record: There won’t be any secrets in this game, seeing the Pirates and Wolverines played twice in the regular season. Perry won both, 67-39 and 48-20 . ... The Wolverines upset sixth-seeded Glenville thanks in part to a hot start, leading 19-9 after the first quarter. Lindsey Stanforth (16) and Hannah Brinning (23) continue to lead the Wolverines on this impressive tournament run. ... Perry is having its best season probably since Dan D’Amore led the Pirates to back-to-back regional performances. The Pirates topped VASJ, 57-49, for a sectional championship behind 23 from Claire Dolan and 13 from Jordan Schiano. But teams can’t ignore Emily Holroyd (12 vs VASJ) or Ellie Frazier (10 assists) . ... If Perry brings its A-game, the Pirates will be the favorite to move on.

Kampf’s pick: Perry

(5) NDCL VS. (3) HARVEY

What: Division II district semifinal

Where: Lakeside, 6600 Sanborn Road, Ashtabula When: 7:45 p.m., Feb. 27

Records: Harvey 15-8, NDCL 12-11

On deck: The winner advances to a district final on March 2 against the winner of top-seeded Perry and ninth-seeded West Geauga

For the record: While the other half of the bracket — Perry and West Geauga — knows each other well, NDCL and Harvey are relative strangers. This one is up for grabs . ... Harvey has been hot all season and is playing for a rare appearance in a district championship game. The Red Raiders are coming off a 40-29 win over Lake Catholic in a sectional final, and have two double-digit wins over fellow semifinalist West Geauga to their name. Jillian Hach had 10 points against Lake, but Danielle Cruz and Nevada Melton can also explode for big games . ... NDCL split the season series with the Lake Catholic team Harvey just beat. Lexi Hammer looks to be the Lions’ goto player. Keep an eye on Olivia DeJohn and Summer Salem, too.
