Brush to be honored
Benedictine Hall of Fame
Benedictine will hold its annual Athletic Hall of Fame and Hall of Honors ceremony on April 2 at Windows on the River in the Cleveland Flats.
This year’s hall of fame class includes Joe Kandra (Class of 1939), Jim Kubinski (1958), Chet Wojciechowski (1964), Al Keller (1974), Kevin Richardson (1981) and Gene Mruczkowski (1998).
Hall of Honors inductees are Bob Toth (1963) and
Brush High School will be one of three Ohio high schools honored at this weekend’s boys state basketball tournament with the OHSAA’s Award of Excellence Award.
Winners of the award are recognized for providing exemplary support and promotion of education-based athletic programming in their school and community.
Said OHSAA commissioner Dan Ross in a statement: “Ohio interscholastic athletic programs have always been considered some of the most exemplary programs in the country in reflecting the value our schools and communities place upon education-based sports. The recipients of the ‘Award of Excellence’ have demonstrated a consistent and well-developed plan to keep the focus of their sport programs upon delivering life-long skills for all participants and mirroring the educational mission of their respective institutions.”
Brush, along with Lisbon David Anderson and Mason, will be recognized on March 24 at halftime of the 10:45 a.m. Division III state semifinal game between VASJ and Proctorville Fairland.
