Will Trump reverse America’s decline?

After World War I in Italy, an Italian socialist named Antonio Gramsci became a dedicated Marxist and helped in the foundation of the Communist Party of Italy. His end goals were to change the political and moral cultures of the world. Unlike Lenin, his method of change was by patient gradualism, while Lenin’s was immediate and brute force.

Now let’s examine how this has played out politically since World War I. President Woodrow Wilson took the flower of our youth into the war, to save the world for Democracy. In reality, what he saved was radicalism in Germany — Hitler’s Brownshirts — and Lenin’s Bolshevism.

President Franklin D. Roosevelt glorified good ole uncle Joe Stalin — mass murderer.

President Jimmy Carter gave us the U.S. Department of Education, where the federal government controlled the public school system and students all the way from elementary to the college level.

Now we will examine the moral aspect of patient gradualism. When I was in the military, if you were found to be a homosexual, you were given an undesirable discharge immediately.

The first change that I can think of was when George H.W. Bush was president. According to the 1991 book “The Establishment’s Man” by James J. Drummey, Bush was the first president of the United States to invite a group of gay and lesbian activists to the White House. Stunned was Sen. William Armstrong, R-Colo., who sent a strongly worded letter to the president on April 26, 1990. Armstrong wrote: “Mr. President, it makes a huge difference whom you invite to the White House. Such groups should never be given recognition by your office any more than you would give such status to the Ku Klux Klan or similar extremist.”

This was the beginning of the race to the bottom.

Now comes Bill Clinton’s view of gays in the military, which was, “Don’t ask, don’t tell.”

Next came the Obama administration, which allowed gays to serve openly in the military, same-sex marriage and was a strong advocate of exterminating unwanted pregnancies.

Now we have Donald Trump. Will he make America great again or will we slide into the depths of Sodom and Gomorrah? Only time will tell! David B. Genis
