Degree-seeking undergraduate students are eligible for dean’s list if their term GPA is greater than or equal to 3.400; they do not have any grades of “Incomplete”, “D” or “F”; and they have registered for, and completed, at least 12 credit hours.
Area residents perform in concert
The University of Findlay Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble recently performed “Those Roaring Twenties.” The annual winter pops concert was directed by Jack Taylor, University director of bands and music professor. Local students include: • Krystle Koch of Eastlake

Mentor resident named to dean’s list
Michelle D. Crough, a resident of Mentor, has recently been named to the dean’s list at Boston University for the Fall semester.
Each school and college at Boston University has their own criterion for the dean’s list, but students generally must attain a 3.5 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale), or be in the top 30 percent of their class, as well as a full course load as a full time student. Founded in 1839, Boston University is an internationally recognized institution of higher education and research. Consisting of 16 schools and colleges, BU offers students more than 250 programs of study in science and engineering, social science and humanities, health science, the arts, and other professional disciplines, along with a number of multi-disciplinary centers and institutes integral to the University’s research and teaching mission. With more than 33,000 students, BU is the fourth-largest private university in the country and a member of the American Association of Universities (AAU), a nonprofit association of 62 of North America’s leading research-intensive institutions.
Local residents earn degrees from WGU
The following local residents have received their degree from Western Governors University (WGU). The university held its 32nd semi-annual commencement ceremony at the Disney Coronado Springs Resort in Orlando on February 11 and celebrated the graduation of more than 11,000 graduates.

• Gloria Hobi of Mentor has received her Master of Education in Learning and Technology
• Jacqueline Womack of Mentor has received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing
• Akingbade Ajewole of Wickliffe has received his Master of Science in Information Technology Management
• Joseph DeSantis of Willoughby has received his Bachelor of Science in IT - Security Emphasis
• Roger Mitan of Willoughby has received his MBA in IT Management
• Naeemah Petway of Willowick has received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing
At the commencement, the online, nonprofit university recognized 6,982 undergraduates and 4,476 graduates who have completed their degrees in business, information technology, K-12 teacher education, and healthcare, including nursing. Will Weatherford, Managing Partner of Weatherford Partners and Former Speaker of the Florida House of Representatives, delivered the commencement address, and joined President Scott D. Pulsipher in honoring the more than 1,000 new alumni participating in the ceremony. Students who were not able to attend the ceremony in person were able to watch the event via live video stream on WGU’s website.
