In the wake of the former president Sal Miroglotta’s sudden retirement in early March, Lake Catholic has named Richard Osborne as interim president.

According to a media release statement from Lake Catholic High School Principal Robert Kumazec, Osborne will serve in the position from the time he was appointed in early April through the end of the school year while the Diocese of Cleveland conducts the search for a new president.

Osborne previously retired from the position of president for Villa AngelaSt. Joseph High School, where he also previously served as chairman of the school’s Board of Advisors.

He also had a 40-year career in publishing and journalism, including serving as publisher and editor at Ohio Magazine and was inducted into the Cleveland Journalism Hall of Fame in 2007, according to the media release.

A joint statement was released by Christopher Knight, secretary for Catechetical Formation/superintendent of Schools, and Eugene Boyer, associate superintendent for Secondary Schools and Newman Campus Ministry, which said:

“We’re very grateful that Rich has answered our call to work with Principal Robert Kumazec and Lake Catholic’s other administration leaders in the final months of the school year. He brings a great deal of experience that will be beneficial as the school continues to build on its long record of success.”

Calls to Osborne for comment were not immediately returned.
