City celebrates first ‘Party on Main’
Main Street was flooded with people eager to see the band and get good food.
It was truly a celebration in downtown Painesville on May 19 as the city kicked off its first “Party on Main” event.
The band Disco Inferno selected the perfect song for the occasion. Delivering the high-energy song, “Celebration” by the original artist Kool & the Gang, Disco Inferno kept the large crowd on its feet dancing.
Main Street was flooded with people eager to see the band and get good food.
Marsha Green and Jessica Urban, who lives in Painesville, said that there were so many food trucks it was hard to decide what to eat.
Green, who lives a couple minutes away, was thrilled to have such a great event come to Painesville.
Slyman’s Restaurant and Betty Bomb A** Burgers food trucks from Cleveland had dozens of people patiently waiting in line.
Painesville resident Karen Keeney, who stood at the end of one of the lengthy lines, said she came to the event just to get a sandwich from Slyman’s.
Painesville Economic Development Administrative Assistant Barb Monacelli organized the well-attended event.
“I’m so proud,” Monacelli said. “I just wanted to do something really fun for everyone to come together as a community. I’m glad so many visitors from outside of Painesville came to see our great city.
Downtown Painesville Organization Executive Director David Polakowski was also pleased with the turnout and agreed that “Party on Main” was a chance to showcase Painesvillle.
“This is an incredible opportunity for us,” he said.
In addition to the food trucks, there was a beer and wine tent.
Polakowski said all proceeds from the beer tent will support the DPO’s mission.
“Party on Main” had something for everyone.
The family-friendly event featured balloon twister and master magician DrURawesome.
Admission and parking was free to the public.
Monticello said she hopes to hold the event again next year.
