Faith, politics are inseparable

I’m answering Robin Neff’s May 6 letter to the editor in The News-Herald concerning prayer before the Geauga County commissioners meeting.

There are some “Christians” who appear to object to the commissioners meeting, Tea Party meeting or just about any meeting opening in prayer. The Apostle Paul instructed us to pray without ceasing. There has never been a time for true Christians when their faith and their politics were inseparable. They have always been inseparable.

As far as our Lord being “tolerant,” there has never been anyone more INTOLERANT of false religion than the Lord Jesus Christ: “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me (John 14:6).

The early Christian faith had a majority of people who would die for their faith. Sadly, today, we have an overabundance of lukewarm, sissy Christians who would rather die than be identified with their Lord and Savior! This type of Christian makes God sick! “So then because thou art lukewarm , and neither cold nor hot, I will spew (vomit) thee out of my mouth” (Revelations 3:16).

I would request you read Hebrews 11. You may find the spirit of those heroes of the faith and that of the Tea Party is one of the same. We really do believe and live James 1:22: “We are doers of the word and intend to continue until our Lord returns. And, “Beloved , when I gave all diligence to write unto you ... that you should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints” (Jude 3).

I like our way of doing the Lord’s work better than the way of those who criticize us for not being ashamed of our Lord, as they seem to be.

Christians are commanded to ask counsel and direction from God.

Christians in the Tea Party know who made this country great, and we will not forsake him, to please cowardly Christians, the Democratic National Communist Party or anyone else. Harold Arthur Newbury Township
