Sister Mary Helen, SND, died May 16 at Notre Dame Provincial Center, don.

Sister was born May 27, 1920, in Cleveland, Ohio, and was known for ing a woman on mission—enthusiast­ic, positive and thoughtful of others. She ministered for sixty-seven years in ementary schools as teacher, principal, catechist, tutor or aide. The privilege of proclaimin­g God’s goodness and love to children was the joy and hallmark of her life!

Sister Mary Helen is survived by nieces, nephews and many dear friends. She was sister to the congregati­on of the Sisters of Notre Dame with whom she shared her life for 76 years.

Sister was preceded in death by her parents Adam and Veronica (Baluha) Chasar; siblings Mary, Anthony (Roselee, deceased), Albert (Francis, deceased) (LaVonne); and uncle, John Baluha.

Friends may call at the Center on Monday, May 22, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m., and on Tuesday from 9:00 to 10:15 a.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Sister Mary Helen will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 23, at Notre Dame Education Center, 13000 Auburn Road, Chardon.

Burial will be in Resurrecti­on Cemetery on the Notre Dame Education Center grounds. Memorial contributi­ons may be sent to the Sisters of Notre Dame.
