Fiddle around over salad luncheon with Women’s Fellowship at St. James

Learn about fiddling, including its history, then listen to fiddler Zach Smolka play to discover why he’s a frequent favorite at Geauga’s Raccoon Country Music Festival.

It’s all part of the annual buffet salad luncheon organized by the Women’s Fellowship Guild at St. James Episcopal Church in Painesvill­e. It’s June 9; doors open at 11:30 a.m., with the program set to begin at 12:30 p.m.

The buffet luncheon, with its array of salads, rolls, beverages and desserts, begins at noon. A raffle and bake sale will round out the event.

The church, at 131 N. State St., is within easy walking distance of county offices.

Tickets are $15 at the door. Or get them in advance at the church and pay $12. Proceeds will go to the church for its operating expenses.

Bar Symon at CLE

The much anticipate­d Bar Symon has opened in Concourse C at Cleveland Hopkins Internatio­nal Airport, giving passengers the opportunit­y to taste the comfort-food creations of Michael Symon, hometown celebrity chef.

His Fat Doug, Lola Burger and potato-and-cheese pierogis are on the menu, along with a selection of craft cocktails and beers.

The 2,100-square-foot restaurant seats 89.

Tea tunes

English tea selections, along with a light lunch and dessert, will be part of “Tea Tunes and Trendy Fashions,” at 1 p.m. June 3. Hosted at St. Andrew Episcopal Church, 7989 Little Mountain Road in Mentor by the Maple Mountain Chorus of the Sweet Adelines, the afternoon event includes fashions by Christophe­r & Banks, a 50/50 raffle and a performanc­e by the Chorus.

Wine and blooms

Holden Arboretum’s annual Blooms wine tasting still has tickets available for its 5-to-7:30 p.m. tasting on June 3 among thousands of colorful spring blooms.

Those on hand move leisurely through the gardens enjoying drink, food samplings and the company of others who appreciate nature’s beauty. Participan­ts get a Holden wine glass to take home, 12 tickets to taste among 60 wines and a bottle of Cellar No. 8 wine to take home.

A variety of regional, domestic and internatio­nal wines will be poured, and area businesses offering tasty accompanim­ents include Betty’s Bomb Ass Burgers, Bon Appe’tit, Chefs for Hire, Culinaire Pavane, Driftwood Catering, Great Lakes Cheese, Hunger Squad, Ianiro’s Imported Foods, Kirtland City Tavern, Food for Thought, Smokin’ Rock N Roll and The Olive and The Grape.

Food trucks

The popular Food Truck Mondays are every other Monday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Legacy Village in Lyndhurst.

The next one is June 5, when local bands also will play to chase away the Monday blues.

Food trucks setting up on Main Street Mondays through August include Orange Truk, Beachcombe­r, Barrio, Chef Grey Wolf, Proper Pig, Slyman’s, Wholly Frijoles, 216 Bistro and Donut Lab.
