Local students receive academic awards

The following students received academic awards at the Ashland University Academic Honors Convocatio­n in Jack & Deb Miller Chapel on April 23.

Dominic Giunta of Willoughby, received the Senior award for the Department of Chemistry, Geology, and Physics. Giunta is majoring in physics. He is the son of Anthony and Erin Giunta of Willoughby. Giunta is a 2013 graduate of South High School.

Noah Cloonan of Kirtland, received the Sophomore award for the Department of Journalism and Digital Media. Cloonan is majoring in digital media journalism. Cloonan is a 2015 graduate of Cornerston­e Christian Academy.

Kathryn Siefert of Highland Heights, received the Senior award for the Department of Journalism and Digital Media. Siefert is majoring in digital media journalism. She is the daughter of John and Jeanne Siefert of Highland Heights. Siefert is a 2013 graduate of Beaumont School.

Kasey Petrecca of Willowick, received the Senior award for the Department of Management, Internatio­nal Business, Entreprene­urship, and Supply Chain Management. Petrecca is majoring in supply chain management. She is the daughter of John and Tammy Petrecca of Willowick. Petrecca is a 2013 graduate of North High School.

The Department­al Awards are given to one sophomore, one junior and one senior from each department.

• Austen Rubenstein of Lyndhurst studied in Bonaire.
