Captains end first half with loss to South Bend

Host South Bend ended the Captains’ four-game winning streak with a 9-3 decision on June 18.

Lake County ends the first half of the Midwest League season with a 2742 record.

Left fielder Jose Medina was 2-for-4 with a solo home run and two runs scored. A day after hitting three home runs, center fielder Junior Soto had two hits. Third baseman Gavin Collins also had two hits.

Lake County starter Luis Jimenez (0-2) gave up six runs (four earned) in four innings. He struck out four, walked three and gave up two home runs.

The Captains are off until June 22 for the Midwest League all-star break.

The Captains’ lone AllStar is pitcher Ryder Ryan.

Lake County begins the second half at Dayton.
