Trial set for man accused in burglary, standoff
A jury trial is scheduled to begin June 26 for one of two men accused of committing an Easter morning burglary-turned-standoff in Painesville.
Kysean Lee, a 21-year-old Painesville man, is charged in Lake County Common Pleas Court with aggravated robbery, aggravated burglary and kidnapping.
Lee is accused in a break-in attempt that triggered a SWAT-involved standoff in the 200 block of Jefferson Street around 4 a.m., Easter Sunday.
A resident reported that unknown people were trying to force their way into her home — one of whom had a handgun.
The two men weren’t able to break into the home at first, and the woman who made the 911 call from inside was able to escape,
FROM PAGE 1 police said. The culprits wound up getting inside the home between the time the
woman called for help and the time police opted to call in special weapons and tactics team members.
SWAT team members were able to enter the house and take Lee and 24-yearold Marshaun Ligon into
custody, said police.
No injuries resulted from the incident.
If convicted, Lee could be sentenced to more than 11 years in prison, plus additional time if it was proven a gun was used to commit
the offenses.
Lee is being represented by attorney Robert Farinacci. The trial before Judge Eugene A. Lucci is expected to last about three days.
Ligon’s trial date is set for Sept. 5.
