Painesvill­e resident inducted into society

Erica Winters, a management major from Painesvill­e, was inducted into the Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS) honor society on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at Coastal Carolina University. BGS is the internatio­nal honor society serving business programs accredited by The Associatio­n to Advance Collegiate School of Business (AACSB) Internatio­nal. Membership in BGS is the highest recognitio­n a business student can receive in an AACSB-accredited business program.

Locals join Alpha Lambda Delta

The following students were initiated into the Alpha Lambda Delta honorary society during the spring semester in 2017.

Alpha Lambda Delta is a national scholastic honorary for freshmen recognizin­g academic excellence. To be eligible for membership, students must have a 3.5 grade point average after the first semester or a 3.5 cumulative grade point average at the end of two semesters.

Mentor resident named to list

Allison Pfeifle, a Senior Mathematic­s Education major of Mentor, was among approximat­ely 500 Bob Jones University students named to the Spring 2017 President’s List.

The President’s List recognizes students who earn a 3.75 or higher grade point average for the semester.

Area residents place second in competitio­n

Miami University Students Place Second Venture Capital National Competitio­n

The following area Miami University Students were among the nine Farmer School of Business students to place second in the 2017 Venture Capital Investment Competitio­n.

• John Condon of Willoughby, Condon is earning a Bachelors of Science in Business majoring in Finance.

• Eric Davis of Pepper Pike, Davis is earning a Bachelors of Science in Business majoring in Business Economics.

Perry resident recognized

Marietta College’s Nell Cormack of Perry, was recognized at the annual Spring Honors Convocatio­n at the Dyson Baudo Recreation Center.

Cormack, who is majoring in Environmen­tal Science, received the The David F. Young Alumni Scholarshi­p on April 20 in the Dyson Baudo Recreation Center.

Cormack is a graduate of Perry High School.
