Elizabeth “Sue” King Riel Schupska, 77, of Madison, Ohio passed away on June 17, 2017 in Ladson, South lina.

Born March 12, 1940 to parents beth Fedak King and William Steele King, her family nickname was Susie Q.

As a young child, Susie developed Graves Disease and was an early cipient of a group that grants wishes to terminally ill children. Sue developed anti bodies to the disease and for many years donated her blood to the land Clinic for research purposes. Sue attended Painesvill­e St. Mary’s School, and then drews School for Girls in Willoughby, Ohio. Though an only child, Sue was very close to her aunts who were just a few years older and thought of them like sisters.

She became a mother at age 19 and in an era of stay at home moms, she found the need to work. Her career at Perfection Corporatio­n began as a piece assembly worker and she worked her way up the ranks to become the first woman plant manager in the company’s history. While there, she also helped develop several patents for her industry and became an active member of the Geneva Business Woman’s Associatio­n.

Sue was a former member of the Madison Jaycee’s, can Legion 112 and was past President of the Ladies iary of VFW Post 8548. She was a life-long supporter of the military, often organizing care packages for soldiers in bat. Whenever she encountere­d a soldier she would extend her hand and thank the soldier for his or her service.

In her spare time, Sue was an avid bowler, traveling to area tournament­s. In her later years, she enjoyed creating wreaths and displaying them at craft shows.

Sue is survived by children Jennifer (Virginia Riel) Flynn of Cincinnati, Jane Riel Stange of Painesvill­e and William Riel (Stacey) of Ladson, South Carolina; along with her children Angela (Patrick) Newberry, and Corinne DiSalvo of Denver, Colorado, Joseph DiSalvo and Michael DiSalvo of Cincinnati, Ohio and Jessica Stange and Elizabeth Stange of Painesvill­e, Ohio. She is also survived by her two grandchild­ren, Jeannette and Nicole.

Sue was preceded in death by her beloved husband Floyd “Butch” Schupska; son Larry Riel and her parents.

Family will receive friends at Behm Funeral Home in son, Wednesday, July 26, 2017 from 10 to 12, followed by a brief service. Burial will be at Madison Memorial Cemetery, Arcola Road.

Contributi­ons in her memory may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, The National Kidney dation, The V.F.W, or Marine Corps Heritage Foundation.
