Man faces numerous drug, other charges
A 36-year-old Bedford man arrested in Mentor July 26 faced a judge there the same day on numerous felony charges, Mentor Municipal Court records show.
Patrick J. Ivey, of 5305 Northfield Road Apt. 407, was arraigned on charges including first-degree felony cocaine trafficking, third-degree having weapons under disability, fourth-degree felony assault and one fifth-degree felony count each of marijuana trafficking and possessing criminal tools, plus misdemeanor window-tint and read-plateillumination offenses, his case file confirms.
If convicted of all five felony counts, Ivey could get up to 17 1/2 years behind bars.
He’s scheduled to appear for a pretrial/preliminary hearing Aug. 3. In the meantime, he’s being held on a $245,000/10 percent cash or surety bond, his record confirms.
Willowick incident being probed
Police in Willowick are investigating an incident involving some Euclid youths, Airsoft pistols and theft from Marc’s, a Willowick Police Department Facebook post shows.
In it, three likely Airsoft or other recreational firearm are depicted, along with the following description:
“(July 26) at 12:26 p.m., three juveniles from Euclid were apprehended in the area of East 294th Street on their bicycles by our officers after a report from Marc’s that these juveniles had stolen items from the store. Officers located the stolen merchandise, which was accompanied by the three pictured weapons. All the stolen items and weapons were discarded in nearby bushes.
“At this time the department has no knowledge if the weapons were used in any type of crime. Investigation continuing.”
Madison Fire District warns of phone scam
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office recently posted a warning of scammers calling residents pretending to be one of the department’s deputies. It’s not the only Lake County agency dealing with scam phone calls.
According to a Facebook post from Madison Professional Firefighters Association Local 3141, Madison Fire District-area residents have received phone calls soliciting credit cards. The number displayed for the caller is the Madison Fire District, specifically the fire chief.
“The Madison Fire District is not soliciting funds nor have they ever solicited through telemarketing,” the association said in its post. “Please do not provide any information and if you receive a phone call contact the fire department at 440-428-6531.”
