Library hosting comics convention

The first annual WEPLcon — a convention celebrating comics, manga and superheroes — will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 5 at the Willowick Public Library.

This special event is open to all ages. Costumes are encouraged but weapons are prohibited, even as props.

Features will include: vendors, artists, superhero face painting, panel discussions, cosplay costume contest, video games, 3-D printer demos, green screen photos and raffles.

Registration is not necessary.

The Willowick Public Library is located at 263 E. 305th St. If the parking lot at the library is full, park across the street at Shoregate Shopping Center or behind the library on East 307th Street.

Railroad museum hosting Aug. 27 show

The Painesville Railroad Museum’s first Railroad Memorabilia Show will be 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 27 at the museum in the Painesville Depot, 475 Railroad St. in Painesville.

The event is designed to have collectors show off their private collections of railroad related items.
