Suspect in 2013 homicide arrested

- Staff report

A suspect in a 2013 Cleveland homicide was arrested July 28 in Euclid by members of the U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force.

According to a task force news release:

Christopher Beard, 29, was arrested at a parking lot on East 222nd Street. He was wanted by the U.S. Marshals and the Cleveland Division of Police for homicide.

The charges stem from an incident on July 5, 2013, in which Beard allegedly shot and killed Damaion Williams while Williams was in a parked vehicle on North Green Road in Cleveland.

A warrant for Beard was issued July 27 after Cleveland detectives were able to piece together key evidence linking Beard as the gunman.

U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott said, “Cleveland police were relentless in their search to find the person responsible for this crime. For more than four years, Beard walked around thinking he got away with murder. Mr. Williams’ family can now have closure knowing that Beard is in custody.”
