United Way 2017 campaign chairman assumes role

Mark Sutherland of the Lubrizol Corp. is ready to take on the role of the 2017 United Way of Lake County campaign chairman.
Sutherland was appointed last year and will succeed 2016 Campaign Chair Scott Marn, vice president — investments, of Benjamin F. Edwards & Co.
“The Lubrizol Corp. has been a dedicated supporter of United Way of Lake County for decades and I am looking forward to my time as campaign chair,” Sutherland said. “United Way of Lake County is a well-equipped organization to direct resources to agencies and programs that provide high returns to the community by measuring impact and ensuring accountability. It’s the best way to help the most people.”
According to the news release, Sutherland has a vast amount of experience in marketing, business management and sales management in multiple product areas and business divisions. He is the corporate vice president of global communications and public affairs for Lubrizol and serves as president of the Lubrizol Foundation. In these roles, he leads Lubrizol’s employee and corporate communications, community engagement, government relations and philanthropic initiatives for the corporation and its foundation.
In 2006, Sutherland was appointed to director of investor relations, where he led the company’s communication efforts with institutional investors. After the completion of the company’s 2011 acquisition by Berkshire Hathaway, he joined W.R. Grace & Co., where he served as vice president of investor relations until rejoining Lubrizol in August 2014, the release also states.
