Kiwanis Recreation Park project out for bid
Plans are moving forward with the Kiwanis Recreation Park restroom improvement project in Painesville.
At the recent special Council meeting, members approved a resolution that allows City Manager Monica Irelan to advertise for bids and to enter into contracts with the lowest and best bidder.
The purpose of renovating the restrooms is to make the facilities accessible during the colder months. The improvements will include installing heaters and pipe freeze protection, ADA entrance pads, ceiling and wall insulation and surface treatment, new stall partitions and upgrading the electric to accommodate the additional demand.
Kiwanis Recreation Park at 301 Latimore St. has many amenities including Painesville Dek Hockey, disc golf, fishing, basketball court, skate park, reservable shelters, picnic tables, grills and walking trails. The park is used year-round.
The restrooms are located near the dek hockey rink.
Irelan said the project will be advertised for $50,000.
Bid alternates including a roof and cement pads at the entrances is also being considered.
The entire project is funded by the Lake County Community Development Block Grant Program. The application was OK’d in June and Lake County commissioners granted the city $65,000.
