Local students earn degrees

Loyola University Maryland recognized the following students from the class of 2017 at its Commenceme­nt Exercises held on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at Royal Farms Arena in downtown Baltimore.

• Emma Vaughn, of Cleveland Heights, received a BA degree in Communicat­ion

• Lauren Youngblood, of Euclid, received a BS degree in Biology/Psychology

• Clayton Holizna, of Russell, received a BS degree in Biology

• Hallie Stacho, of Chardon, received a BS degree in Biology/French

The Commenceme­nt address at this year’s ceremony was delivered by Jesuit priest and bestsellin­g author, Rev. James Martin, S.J. Fr. Martin is the editor of the national Catholic magazine, America, and provides commentary on issues of religion, spirituali­ty, and social justice in many national media outlets.

Mentor resident named to dean’s list

Missouri State University has named Keith Parker of Mentor to the dean’s list for the spring 2017 semester.

The dean’s list recognizes academic excellence. For full-time undergradu­ate students, criteria include enrollment in at least 12 credit hours during the spring semester and at least a 3.50 grade point average (on a 4.00 scale).
