Fisher Award watch list

The Tony Fisher Award goes to the player of the year for The News-Herald area each season. This year’s award, which is named after the 1997 Ohio Mr. Football recipient from Euclid who went on to play at Notre Dame and in the NFL, will be presented on Nov. 20, in a special show at Hooley House in Mentor. The Fisher Watch List is fluid and can change from week to week. (In alphabetic­al order) Kolston Brewster, Perry: Completed 21 of 27 passes for 194 yards and three touchdowns in the Pirates’ 46-7 win over Riverside. Johnny Chambers, Newbury: Carried 21 times for 232 yards and four touchdowns, and also passed for 52 yards in the Black Knights’ 44-12 win over Fairport.

Kenny Cline, Madison: Carried 19 times for 133 yards and three touchdowns in the Blue Streaks’ 28-21 win over Geneva. Ben Connor, Beachwood: Ran for 40 yards and two touchdowns, and also completed 11 of 16 passes for 150 yards and a touchdown in one half of play in his team’s 3321 win over Akron North. Jayden Cunningham, University: Carried 17 times for 127 yards and a TD, and also completed 11 of 22 passes for 187 yards and three touch-

downs in the Preppers’ 35-19 win over VASJ.

Chris Edmond, Mentor: Carried 18 times for 139 yards and two touchdowns in the Cardinals’ 49-14 win over Massillon.

Godwin Joe, Brush: Threw for 86 yards and ran for 102 yards in the Arcs’ 43-12 loss to North Canton Hoover.

Chase Kline, Chardon: Had 20 tackles, including two tackles for loss and a sack, in the Hilltopper­s’ 42-14 win over West Geauga. Isaac Pettway, Wickliffe: Carried 13 times for 165 yards and three touchdowns in the Blue Devils’ 37-8 win over Collinwood. Jax Shenkel, West Geauga: Completed 8 of 17 passes for 151 yards and a touchdown, and also ran for 34 yards, in the Wolverines’ loss to Chardon. Jake Tanski, North: Threw for 133 yards and also ran for two touchdowns in the Rangers’ 47-16 win over Westlake. Tadas Tatarunas, Mentor: Completed 16 of 24 passes for 185 yards and two touchdowns, and also ran for 67 yards and a score, in the Cardinals’ 49-14 win over Massillon.

Joey Torok, Kirtland: Carried 26 times for 147 yards in the Hornets’ 14-13 win over Chagrin Falls. Mason Ziegenfuss, Chardon: Scored on an 80-yard kickoff return and on a 15yard intercepti­on return, and also had 11 tackles (four for loss) in Chardon’s 42-14 win over West Geauga.
