Bike ride to support recovery centers
Bicyclists from around Ohio are invited to celebrate Lake-Geauga Recovery Center’s Ride for Recovery, beginning at 7 a.m., Sept. 17.
It is a new ride in support of Lake-Geauga Recovery Centers and the numerous programs offered to people on the path to recovery from drug and alcohol addiction, according to a press release. The Ride for Recovery honors those people who are currently in treatment, those who are in recovery and embracing a healthy lifestyle, and remembering those who have lost their lives to the disease of addiction.
The ride will originate from Oak House, LakeGeauga Recovery Center’s women’s residential treatment facility at 800 Oak St. in Painesville. Riders will choose from two routes — 15 miles and 35 miles.
The 15-mile ride will travel from Painesville to Mentor and back, while the 35-mile ride will travel from Painesville to Chardon and back. Both routes will return to Oak House around noon.
Riders may stop at various Lake-Geauga Recovery Center’s facilities along the routes where they can enjoy a refreshment and learn about the agency and its various programs the release stated.
Cyclists will travel on public roadways and will need to adhere to all traffic regulations. Cyclists are also required to wear helmets.
Ride registration is $30 for people ages 15 and over. Children ages 12-14 can enter for free while children under 12 will not be allowed to ride. All proceeds will benefit Lake-Geauga Recovery Centers, which provides a wide range of services for adults whose lives have been affected by their own or another’s use of alcohol or other drugs, by problem gambling or by mental illness.
Pre-registration is encouraged and riders can register online at www. wizathon.com/lgrc-ridefor-recovery.
