The Cardinals responded with a six-play drive to tie the score at 7-7. Mentor went on to score again in the first quarter and added another touchdown in the second quarter to give them a 21-7 lead going into the half.
At the start of the third quarter, the Cardinals’ opening four-play drive resulting in a touchdown but Strongsville answered with a seven-play scoring drive that was aided by a roughing the passer call against Mentor. The Mustangs failed to convert the extra point.
The Strongsville defense was unable to slow the Mentor offense, however, and the Cardinals went on to score two more touchdowns in the third quarter.

They said it
MENTOR COACH STEVE TRIVISONNO » “We had two great football teams out here today. I felt we moved the ball well. I told my team to be ready to play, and they were. We need to do a better job at covering the pass.” MENTOR WIDE RECEIVER LOGAN SHEA » “We played well in the first half except for giving up the 99-yard touchdown. That won’t happen again. When we came out after the half we were very confident, perhaps a little too confident, but we made adjustments and came away with a win. Edmond and Tatarunas were amazing this evening. Tatarunas plays with a lot of poise and when we are open, he gets the ball to us.” STRONGSVILLE QUARTERBACK JOHNNY MAJOR » “We were never out of the fight. I believe in my teammates. The coaches prepare us well and we played to the whistle every time. That was a solid defense we played against, and they are well-coached. We will put this game behind us and get ready for the next game, there is no quit in this team.”
