Lakeland Community College has the fall installment of its biannual Seasonal and Part-Time Job Fair scheduled for Sept. 26 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Thirty area employers offering seasonal work heading into the Thanksgiving to New Year holidays will be on hand as well as those with longer-term, part-time employment opportunities.

Nancy White, Lakeland’s Career Services director, said in a Sept. 20 phone interview there are a number of “regulars,” who have had success recruiting through this event in years past, along with a host of newcomers offering everything from semi-skilled and labororiented positions, through professional and even management opportunities.

“(Attendees) can expect a wide variety of opportunities,” White said. “There are a range of employers, including representatives from healthcare, social services, retail, restaurant and hospitality and other areas.”

She said a newcomer she expects to garner quite a bit of attention is Jack Thistledown Racino, which will be on hand with an array of job opportunities.

“It’s fun when we get the high-profile ones like that,” she said. “People tend to take notice, like: ‘Oh, that’s kind of cool! I’ll check that one out.”

Euclid City Schools is another standout slated to be on hand, among others. For a list of employers expected to participate, visit the event’s web page on the Lakeland Community College website.

White said a good piece of advice for people who may not consider attending would be to go, anyhow.

“We always tell people to come,” she said. “Even if the specific jobs being offered don’t appeal to them, they should just go to network. They could still get the word in to a company or possibly even get a contact name. So that networking value is definitely there.”

Lakeland’s fall 2017 Seasonal & Part-Time Job Fair is free and open to the public and will take place in the A Building Bookstore Hallway.

White said those who plan to attend are encouraged to bring several copies of their resumés and plan on making plenty of professional contacts. A list of tips and suggestions for success is available on the Lakeland Community College Career Services web page.
