Lake Metroparks hosts Fall Art Show
Lake Metroparks announced it has “Bringing the Outdoors In: The Art of Landscapes” on display for its annual Fall Art Show at Penitentiary Glen Nature Center.
Visitors can explore how local artists have combined color, canvas and brushwork to create dynamic images of the beautiful chaos that is nature.
“Bringing the Outdoors In: The Art of Landscapes” is open daily 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Oct. 15. Admission is free, and artwork is available for purchase; with proceeds benefiting Nature Center programs.
Penitentiary Glen Reservation is located at 8668 Kirtland-Chardon Road in Kirtland.
Event to showcase cultural center
Mentor’s Wildwood Cultural Center will present “Experience the Manor: Event Planning Showcase” on Oct. 8 to introduce people to the center, located at 7645 Little Mountain Road.
From 1 to 4 p.m., attendees can experience the manor with food samples provided by Wellington Arbor and a selection of wine samples. They can meet with local vendors to help plan a special event at Wildwood.
Ages 21 and over only. Preregistered admission is $3 per person while admission paid at the door is $5 per person. To register or for more information, call 440-974-5735.

Sunshine Shop Board taking grant requests
The Geauga County Sunshine Shop Board is now accepting grant requests from Geauga County notfor-profit organizations who serve individuals and families in crisis or in need.
The mission of The Sunshine Shop, which has been in operation for over 30 years, is to provide assistance to low-income individuals and families residing in the county. Funds are raised through The Sunshine Thrift Shop located at the Geauga County Fairgrounds, which sells donated clothing and household items.
Grant requests should be a single page and include the organization’s contact information, purpose or mission; who is served; what the grant money would be used for; and how much is being requested.
Organizations applying who received a grant award in a previous year also must include information on how their grant was spent. Requests postmarked by Oct. 1 should be mailed to: The Sunshine Shop Board, P.O. Box 917, Burton, OH, 44021.
