• Josh Petruccell­i did not disappoint in his first game as Mount Union’s starting running back. The Perry grad and freshman put on a show for the No. 2-ranked Purple Raiders (3-0, 2-0 OAC) in a 55-7 win over visiting Baldwin Wallace (1-2, 0-2) on Sept. 23. Petruccell­i didn’t find the end zone, but did just about everything else in the big win over the Yellow Jackets. He rushed for 127 yards on 13 carries (a 9.8-yard average), and also caught a pass for 32 yards. His longest run of the day was 29 yards. On his first two carries of the game, Petruccell­i went for runs of 14 and 23 yards. He also had carries that went for 20, 17 and 10 yards. Said Mount Union coach Vince Kehres: “We wanted to establish the running game, and our offensive line blocked well while Josh and all our backs today took advantage of that and got into the second level for some good runs.”

• Malik Grove threw for two touchdowns and ran for two more as host Notre Dame College (3-1, 3-1 MEC) beat Concordia, 44-13. D.J. Greene (Willoughby South) rushed for 136 yards on a 24 carries.

• Host Heidelberg (3-0, 2-0 OAC) ended John Carroll’s 10-game conference winning streak with 47-21 victory. Heidelberg led by 10 at halftime, then started the second half with two field goals and two intercepti­on returns for touchdowns to put the game away.

• Rob Cuda passed for 314 yards and three touchdowns as host Case Western Reserve (3-0) routed Waynesburg (0-4), 56-21.

• Host Ohio Dominican (1-3, 1-0) smashed Lake Erie (0-4, 0-1) in the Storm’s first game in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference.

• Gus Ragland accounted for three touchdowns as Miami (Ohio) (2-2, 1-0 MAC) beat Central Michigan (2-2, 0-1), 31-14, in a Mid-American Conference opener. Ragland ran for a 6-yard touchdown and tossed two touchdown passes, including a 50-yard strike to Sam Martin.

• Lamar Jackson accounted for three touchdowns to set a Louisville career record and lead the No. 19 Cardinals (3-1) to a 42-3 victory against visiting Kent State (1-3). Despite missing Jaylen Smith, the team’s top receiver , the reigning Heisman Trophy winner threw for 299 yards and two touchdowns on 18-of-22 passing.

• Nathan Rourke found freshman Cameron Odom from 7 yards out in the second overtime to lift Ohio (3-1, 1-0 MAC) over host Eastern Michigan (2-1, 1-0), 27-20. The winner followed an 8-yard scoring strike from Rourke to Brendan Cope on a play-action fade to the right corner in the first extra session.

• Malik Rosier threw for 333 yards and three touchdowns, Mark Walton needed only 11 carries to rush for a career-best 204 yards and another score, and host No. 14 Miami (2-0) rallied to beat Toledo (3-1), 52-30.

• John Urzua threw for 290 yards and two touchdowns, including a 64-yard scoring pass to Brad Anderson, to lead Middle Tennessee (2-2) to a 24-13 win over visiting Bowling Green (0-4).

• Deondre Douglas made a leaping over-the-shoulder catch on a pass from Brandon Silvers and got one foot down in the front corner of the end zone as Troy (3-1) rallied past Akron (1-3), 22-17.

• Juwan Johnson caught a seven-yard TD pass as time expired and visiting fourth-ranked Penn State (4-0, 1-0) rallied to stun Iowa (3-1), 21-19, in the Big Ten opener for both teams. Saquon Barkley had 211 yards rushing and 94 yards receiving for the Nittany Lions.

• Damien Harris ran for a career-high 151 yards and three touchdowns, Bo Scarbrough added two TDs and top-ranked Alabama (4-0) routed (3-1) Vanderbilt, 59-0, in the Southeaste­rn Conference opener for both teams. Alabama now has won 19 straight over the SEC East. Better yet, the Crimson Tide hasn’t lost to Vanderbilt since 1984 or in Nashville since 1969.

• Adam Choice had a 6-yard tiebreakin­g touchdown in the fourth quarter and Travis Etienne had two scoring runs in the final six minutes as host No. 2 Clemson (4-0, 2-0 ACC) wore down Boston College (1-3, 0-2 ACC), 34-7.

• Baker Mayfield threw three touchdowns, including the goahead score the next snap after his unsportsma­nlike conduct penalty, and visiting third-ranked Oklahoma (4-0, 1-0 Big 12) stretched the nation’s longest winning streak to 14 games, 4941 over Baylor (0-4, 0-1).

• Freshman Jake Fromm threw a pair of touchdown passes in another poised showing on the big stage, the defense stifled Nick Fitzgerald and host No. 11 Georgia (4-0, 1-0) broke out plenty of trickery in a 31-3 rout of No. 17 Mississipp­i State (3-1, 1-1).

• Stephen Carr ran for a fourthquar­ter touchdown two plays after visiting Southern California’s defense forced one of its six turnovers and the fifth-ranked Trojans (4-0, 2-0 Pac-12) won their 13th straight, 30-20 over Cal (3-1, 0-1).

• Darius Anderson ran for a career-high 160 yards and three touchdowns, and No. 16 TCU (4-0, 1-0 Big 12) upset No. 6 Oklahoma State (3-1, 0-1) to stamp the Horned Frogs as a Big 12 contender.
