Two men and a juvenile were arrested after allegedly attempting to rob a credit union.

Two Cleveland men and a juvenile from Cleveland Heights were arrested after allegedly attempting to rob the Willoughby-Eastlake Schools Credit Union with an assault rifle on Oct. 11.

According to Willoughby police, the incident occurred around 9:55 a.m. The department was contacted by an officer working a security detail inside the credit union located at 38024 Second St.

According to police, two men entered the front vestibule of the credit inion armed with a Smith & Wesson MP-15 assault rifle. When the officer observed the men enter, he drew his duty-issued firearm. The officer told them to drop the assault rifle as it was aimed at the officer. The men turned and ran out the door, dropping the assault rifle in the vestibule.

The detail officer chased after the men through a residential area of West Clark Avenue. Patrol officers responded to the immediate area and quickly set up a perimeter around Sharpe Avenue.

The two men were located within minutes in a back yard in the 38000 block of Sharpe Avenue. The men were identified as 22-yearold Arvis Williams, who lives at 16025 Lake Shore Blvd. Apt. 304 in Cleveland, and a 16-year-old juvenile.

Shortly after the scene was secured, an officer saw a third man, later identified as 20-year-old Melvin Hill, whose court file states lives at 3311 E. 130 St. in Cleveland, driving a silver Ford Fusion that was registered to Williams. After parking the Ford on Clark Avenue, Hill was apprehended as he was walking past the credit union.

After canvassing the area, officers located clothing worn by the suspects that was discarded in the back yard of a residence on Clark Court.

The Cleveland and Painesville division of the FBI were contacted and responded to the scene to assist with the investigation. The three suspects were charged with first-degree felony aggravated robbery and fifth-degree felony possession of criminal tools.

Williams and Hill were arraigned Oct. 12 in Willoughby Municipal Court with a $500,000 cash/ surety bond. Hill and Williams are scheduled to appear for preliminary hearings Oct. 19, according to court records.
