STEAM Museum visits All Saints School
Learning was made fun for All Saints School of St. John Vianney students through the entertaining and engaging STEAM Museum.
The traveling show presented by Mobile Ed Productions visited the Wickliffe school on Oct. 12, and Steven Grey, who is the Midwest presenter, said the goal was to educate using entertainment.
Every student in pre-kindergarten through eighth grade was given an opportunity to learn through numerous interactive exhibits.
“It’s all about learning while having fun,” Grey said. “This is a program that I believe in.”
Mobile Ed Productions, based in Redford, Michigan, has been bringing learning to life since 1979. Its STEAM Museum, which is one of the numerous assemblies and programs offered, focused on science, technology, engineering, art and math concepts.
Grey showcased robotics, 3D printing, structures, gears and kinetic energy.
Students got the chance to program an advanced linetracking robot called Ozobot that responded to color. They used markers on an iPad to create paths for the robot to travel.
While the students explored the various exhibits, they were encouraged to ask questions and work together. The event was suitable for students of all ages. Grey modified the presentation based on level of development.
“This is a great opportunity for our school,” said Principal Terri Armelli.
Armelli said this was the first time that the STEAM Museum visited and she was pleased with the student engagement and participation.
Lubrizol completely sponsored the event and several parents volunteered at the work stations.
Grey said the parent volunteers are instrumental.
“It is a great opportunity for them to be involved in their children’s learning,” he said. “We hope to inspire the students and get them exciting about learning.”
